Born in Valladolid, Raquel graduated with a degree in Cinematography from the prestigious Madrid Film School. Because of her training, extensive and varied experience, Raquel is considered globally to be the top female cinematographer to hail from Spain.
Raquel has shot features, documentaries, commercials/adverts and music videos in 21 countries both on location and in studios, with multiple works in Bangkok, Barcelona, Beijing, Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Crimea, Dubai, London, L.A., Montreal, Mumbai, New York, Ouarzazate, Rio, San Francisco and Shanghai. Having spent her adult life, trotting the globe, she has lived in several of those cities.
Raquel chooses projects that are culturally and geographical diverse. This, coupled with her experience in working with both award-winning and first time directors, international production and post-production companies, multicultural and multilingual crews, gives Raquel a unique vision and flexibility. She has worked in the full spectrum of weather, lighting, economic and political situations, and is always sensitive to a director’s story and culture. She is the recipient of the Best Female Cinematographer Award from the Women’s Independent Film Festival in Los Angeles.
